End-to-End Workforce Journey Mapping
Designing the Employee Experience from Attraction to Alumni
The Challenge
Employee experience existed as disconnected touchpoints across separate systems and teams. HR operated in silos, creating fragmented ownership and inconsistent quality. Critical moments had gaps, engagement opportunities were missed, and efforts were duplicated, frustrating employees and managers alike.
Without a holistic framework, the organisation couldn't see how touchpoints connected or where breakdowns occurred, limiting strategic investment in workforce experience.
Our Approach
We designed a comprehensive framework mapping the complete employee lifecycle from attraction through alumni engagement.
Journey Architecture & Analysis: We mapped every critical touchpoint, breaking the journey into 17 distinct project areas including onboarding, development, career transitions, and offboarding. This revealed friction points and opportunities for meaningful moments.
Integration & Standards: We identified how current systems aligned with the employee journey and proposed future-state integrations to eliminate silos. Quality benchmarks were established for each stage with feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement.
The Outcomes
The framework delivered immediate clarity and actionable insights:
17 prioritised improvement projects aligned to business impact
59 key touchpoints mapped across the employee lifecycle
11 system integration opportunities identified to streamline operations and reduce manual processes
Measurable improvements in employee onboarding satisfaction following implementation of the first journey phase
Increased manager satisfaction with workforce processes and tools
Impact
The workforce journey mapping provided a strategic blueprint for employee experience transformation. By visualising the complete journey, decision-makers could allocate resources where they would drive maximum impact.
Early implementation of priority touchpoints delivered measurable improvements in both onboarding satisfaction and retention metrics. The framework positioned the organisation to deliver consistently exceptional experiences at every career stage, creating a foundation for sustained competitive advantage in talent attraction and retention.
